When I studied at school I was quite slim and skinny girl. I ate everything I wanted and never gained any weight. All of my friends envied me as they tried to follow different diets to keep their figures in form but I did not have to do anything to remain thin. I never thought of diets or healthy nutrition as I was sure that my ideal body would be the same in some years and I would never have to search for ways to lose some weight as my friends did. It is known that panic attacks are accompanied with agoraphobia. We may note at once that it is senselessly to escape the places where you had a panic attack. Such places may be lift, subway, market and big supermarket, electric train and so on. People begin to escape a transport mainly because it may be stuffy; they are pressed in a crowd and there may be a fear that they’ll feel bad and nobody will help them, that they will not be able to control the situation and leave this place in time, that the train may stop in the railway tunnel, they will lose consciousness and so on. As a matter of fact, the panic attack may happen anywhere, even in own flat. It is impossible to escape all the places where panic attack may start. Following this logic of escaping, the patients sometimes even do not leave their homes, at least, alone. Introducing the restrictions concerning movements as well as that places where panic attacks occurred, you deprive yourself of many opportunities and, finally, appear in a social isolation: it is impossible to agree to have more high-paid job, which is situated far away from home, it is impossible to visit your friends, theatres, exhibitions, etc. Read the rest of this entry »

  1. If it is the first time you’ve had an attack, try to define the emotional factors which could provoke a strong feeling of anxiety. Find the connection between your feelings, state and antecedent events. Analyze the problem and try to solve it.
  2. Try not to develop a limiting conduct even if your panic attack occurred on the street or in the transport. Keep on using a transport and have as active way of life as it is possible.
  3. Having the first signs of the panic attack take some benzodiazepines, for example Xanax, Diazepam, Valium, Alprazolam or other. Bear this medication with yourself. After taking the medication, effect is felt in about 20-30 minutes. Such medications as Xanax may stop the attack in full or smooth away the symptoms. With a help of the medication you will stand the panic attack in a benign.
  4. If the panic attack happened in a public place – try to take the medication quickly and sit calmly about a half an hour till you feel the sedative action of the drug. If you have not taken the medicine with yourself then try to relax at first, sit for some time and then go back home or to your office (asking not to disturb you). If you still feel bad - call for an Ambulance.
  5. During the panic attack try to breathe evenly and calmly even if you want to breathe more frequently. A tachypnoe may provoke a hyperventilation syndrome when with an increase of breathing frequency - a feeling of fear and anxiety increases and as a result they in their turn make you breathe more and more frequently and so on.
  6. If your hands and feet grow cold during the panic attack, try to warm them using a hot water for example. You may also take a hot bath if you are at home at that moment. But you should do it only if you have your extremities growing cold however if you have a fever and high blood pressure - you should not do it! This method also helps to stop quickly an attack.
  7. It is also not unreasonable to tell about your state to someone among your close relatives who may support you.

Looking at the bottom of your prescription, you have probably seen two signature lines. On the first line it is printed “Product Selection Permitted” while on the other one it is “Dispense as Prescribed”. Depending on where your doctor has appended his signature it means that a patient or a pharmacy may choose between the brand name drug and the generic version of that very drug. Rimonabant (Acomplia, Zimulti) was created by a French Pharmaceutical Company Sanofi-Aventis or Sanofi-Synthelabo. This medication appeared to be a new method to overcome a problem of weight loss as it is used specially to treat obesity and perhaps some other ailments. The present diet drug was legally approved in the Great Britain on June 28th 2006. At the same time it was approved in other European countries as well as in many countries around the world that made this medicine especially popular in most part of the world. This could become a real reason to expect the FDA approval of Rimonabant (Acomplia, Zimulti) in the United States as well. But there are no guarantees to be certain of it. The FDA became stricter to all medications on the market especially when it concerns new drugs. So Rimonabant (Acomplia, Zimulti) strangely enough is still not approved in the USA. Now I think that it will not be an exaggeration if I say that I am a person with a great experience of anxiety / panic disorder. The feeling, which now has its diagnosis, appeared about thirty years ago and I may say that the most amazing thing was the fact that it appeared so unexpectedly and without any reason that I hardly could guess what happened to me. I understood that my state of health was getting worse and worse but I even did not try to manage it as I did not realize that I had a disease and needed a consultation of professional doctors. First of all let me note that I am quite a successful, ambitious young woman. I am one of those people who always know what they want, go directly to their aim and achieve it whatever it may cost (in a good sense of it, of course). All of my friends always considered me to be a lucky person and I though that my confidence and persistence would never let me drop out of a race that is a successful life. However, who could expect that I would have to go through a very difficult period in my life! Read the rest of this entry »

When I was 10 years old I learnt about my diagnosis that was OCD, you know that is obsessive - compulsive disorder. I had different oddities such as for example to sit down and then stand up several times in a minute or touch something just three times or as much as I thought I had to do to make my anxiety quiet down.
